Ade Edmondson takes Celebrity Masterchef title

Comedian Ade Edmondon has been crowned winner of Celebrity Masterchef, following a closely fought final between himself, Janet Street Porter and Less Dennis.

The 56-year-old star of Bottom and The Young Ones beat his competition by serving up a three course meal which judge John Torode described as 'absolutely mind-blowing.

He wowed John and fellow judge Gregg Wallace with pan seared loin of venison with a pepper crust for starters, followed by a main of butterflied fillet of sea bass with scallop mousse and strawberries in caramel syrup with caraway shortbread for dessert.

"What Ade has learnt along the way has just already enhanced the good cook that he was when he walked in here," Gregg Wallace said. "I love the look of his dishes, the style, the cleanness of them - beautiful simplicity."

Ade joked afterwards that he planned to celebrate his win with beans on toast after all his fancy cooking.

"I'm very very chuffed," he added. "I've spent most of my life being second, so to actually come top feels very weird.

"It feels unusual, but I'm very very pleased indeed. It's quite nice to be first."

His victory comes following a two-part final which also saw the celebrity chefs prepare afternoon tea as well as dish up culinary delights for Michelin-starred chefs.
