Ant and Dec had an earlier start than usual when they surprised TV viewers by reading the GMTV weather live on air on Thursday morning. Regular weather presenter Clare Nasir stepped aside as the diminutive pair took charge of the weather map. Dec, 32, sailed through his report at 7.25am, exclaiming: "I'm quite enjoying this." A confident Ant, 31, took his turn at 7.58am, saying: "Believe me. I know what I'm talking about. I've spent a week at the Met Office." But by the end of his stint, he admitted: "I never want to do that again." As he pointed to the map, Ant also managed to squeeze a personal message into his report. The Geordie told viewers: "It's going to be nice around this point around Newcastle, particularly in one house, because it's my mam's birthday. Happy Birthday Mam." The duo were practising on GMTV, which was hit with a record £2 million fine yesterday over the running of its competitions, for their latest challenge on ITV1 show Saturday Night Takeaway. Ant and Dec will compete against each other and face judgment on their weather presenting skills from a panel of experts in the task. Admitting he was feeling the pressure, Ant said: "I need to win on Saturday. I'm three nil down."
