Ashley Taylor Dawson 'faints' after pairing with Strictly's Ola

Hollyoaks actor Ashley Taylor Dawson showed just how pleased he was to be paired with Ola Jordan on Strictly Come Dancing 2013 by fainting as soon as the news was announced.

Viewers saw the 31-year-old fall to the floor during Saturday night's show as Tess Daly revealed he would partner with Ola, who danced to victory with Chris Hollins in 2009.

But while Tess was left looking genuinely concerned, Ashley soon revealed that he had in fact been playing a joke on the presenter.

And he admitted afterwards he was "really happy" with his choice of partner.

"I couldn't have a better teacher," he said, "and I know she wants to be the first one to win it twice."

The judges also seemed to approve of the pairing, with Bruno Tonioli describing them as "the bad boy and the sexy, sultry siren".

He added: "It will be like mixing nitro and glycerine, it will be explosive."

Saturday's Strictly saw the 15 celebrities being paired with their professional partners for the first time.

Coronation Street star Natalie Gumede has emerged as an early favourite after being paired with 2010 winner Artem Chigvintsev - and showing off a nifty pair of heels during the show's group routine.

The live shows begin on Friday September 27 as the first set of couples make their official dancefloor debut.
