Becky Adlington dislocates her shoulder in sickening accident on The Jump

Olympic champion swimmer Becky Adlington dislocated her shoulder while competing in Channel 4's celebrity alpine competition, The Jump.

The two-time Olympic gold medallist was performing a ski jump to save her place in the programme after earlier losing her skeleton sleigh race against former Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding.

Becky, 26, appeared to land awkwardly on her shoulder as she descended from the jump into a giant air bag.

She described the pain as worse than childbirth and complained that she had to wait 40 minutes before her shoulder was put back into place. She was given oxygen to help cope with the pain and she couldn't bear to watch the accident as it was played back on The Jump.

Becky's place in next week's heat is assured after former EastEnders star Louisa Lytton scored the lowest ski jump and was eliminated from the series. But it's not clear if her sickening injury will be sufficiently healed for her to take her place.

Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle was the fastest competitor in the skeleton race.
