Great British Bake-Off supremo Mary Berry presented a cake to chat show host Graham Norton - and admitted it had already been nibbled by her dog. The kitchen guru said her spaniel had taken a chunk out of the treat she had taken to the studio during the New Year's Eve edition of his programme. But she simply patched it up to disguise the damage for the recording of the Graham Norton Show, to be screened on Monday on BBC One. Mary and Bake-Off co-star Paul Hollywood were appearing as guests on the show alongside big-screen stars Tom Cruise, Hugh Jackman, Billy Crystal and Rosamund Pike when she made her confession. She told the presenter: "Poppy leapt up and took a bite out of the cake and I thought about making another one but I didn't have time so I just filled the hole with icing." Paul Hollywood said the personality of contestants did not enter into the judging process for the unlikely TV hit, purely culinary ability. "You can't do that, you've got to be fair," he said. "Someone did talk off camera to us last year and I thought 'right, I've marked your card mate', but it doesn't work like that because people's heart and soul goes into it and you have to judge it properly."
