The clinical lead made a sensational return

Casualty viewers have been left thrilled by the very dramatic return of Connie Beauchamp.

After struggling with her health following a battle with heart cancer last year, Connie (Amanda Mealing) made her comeback to the Holby hospital on Saturday night’s show and it was clear she meant business from the word go.

It began with the clinical lead strutting through the car park complete with a short new hairdo, before she burst in on Elle Gardner (Jaye Griffiths) treating a patient and abruptly took over.

Later on viewers saw Connie clash with Charlie Fairhead (Derek Thompson) over plans for the department.

It was certainly an eventful first day back for the straight-talking doctor and fans loved every minute of it.

“So good to have Connie back where she belongs fierce as ever! #ConniesBack #Casualty,” one viewer wrote on Twitter, whilst another said: “What an entrance for Connie B, the queen is back”

Others couldn’t help but praise her new look, with one admirer tweeting: “love Connie’s new wardrobe but I hope she kept the blue coat #Casualty”

And one agreed: “#Connie with short hair is the best though. #HolbyCity vibes”

Meanwhile some Casualty fans enjoyed seeing a slightly gentler side to Connie during her return.

“I love the new Connie a perfect balance of the old determined power driven side and the new softer side who knows how to smile,” one tweeter posted. “So good to have the Queen of the ED back where she belongs”

It looks like Connie’s return will continue to be dramatic too, with the clinical lead facing the challenge of getting Charlie on board with her big plans for the department in the coming weeks.

She’s also struck fear into the heart of junior doctor Rashid Masum (Neet Mohan), so we can’t wait to see how that relationship pans out!
