Couch Potato's Tuesday Teaser: Which Hitchcock film spawned a Spanish word?

Alfred Hitchock's 1940 thriller Rebecca - based on the book by Daphne du Maurier - stars Joan Fontaine as a new bride who finds herself living in the shadow of her wealthy husband's first wife Rebecca.

This classic was a huge success in Spain in the 1940s when it was released. And because it was so popular,  Spaniards started referring to the type of cardy Fontaine wears in the movie as a 'rebeca'.

The word is still used in Spain today for this type of cardigan.

Rebecca is showing on Sky Movies Classics today - Tuesday 4th September - at 7pm.

A Rebecca remake is in the works. How do you feel about that? Discuss this film on our Movie Talk Facebook page or Movie Talk Twitter stream
