The 2011 comedy remake of the 1981 Dudley Moore film Arthur marks the second occasion that Helen Mirren has re-played a role formerly played by John Gielgud and reinterpreted it as a woman.
In the 2011 Russell Brand movie, Mirren plays Arthur's long-suffering nanny Hobson. Gielgud played the Hobson role as a fussy butler in the original.
In 2010, Mirren played Prospera in Julie Taymor's adaptation of Shakespeare's The Tempest. John Gielgud previously played the Prospero character in Peter Greenaway's 1991 The Tempest interpretation - Prospero's Books.
Weird eh?
Arthur (2011) is showing tonight - Tuesday 12th June - on Sky Movies Premiere at 8pm
