Daisy Lowe eliminated from Strictly after tense dance-off against Greg Rutherford

Daisy Lowe eliminated from Strictly

Daisy Lowe became the seventh celebrity to be voted off this year's Strictly Come Dancing after performing in the dance-off for the third time.

Daisy Lowe became the seventh celebrity to leave this year's Strictly Come Dancing after a tense dance-off with Greg Rutherford ahead of next week's live show in Blackpool.

Daisy and partner Aljaz scored 31 points last night after performing a salsa to Dee-Lite's 'Groove is in the Heart'.

Craig Revel Horwood described the footwork as “haphazard”, but said he loved Daisy’s leg extensions, while Bruno Tonioli said he loved the “retro styling” of the routine.

Tonight was the third time Daisy was forced to perform in the dance-off after receiving the lowest number of public votes.

The model's first dance-off was against Birds of a Feather actress Lesley Joseph in week five, and was followed by a dance floor battle against pop star Anastacia just one week later.

Learning she was in the bottom two for the third time, Daisy said: "I'm just hoping it's not the third and final one. I loved that dance. I just want to do it better.""

Before Daisy took to the dance floor, judge Darcey Bussell passed on a word of advice. She said: "Soften those knees, sell it and enjoy it with that wonderful confidence you gave. Just do exactly the same."

Olympic long-jumper Greg Rutherford and partner Natalie Clifton learned they would be dancing against Daisy and Aljaz soon after.

The pair also scored 31 points last night after performing a Paso Doble to 'Tamacun’ by Rodrigo y Gabriela.

Greg was praised for his powerful performance on Saturday and was compared to a "triumphant stag" by judge Bruno Tonioli.

Taking to the dance floor for the second time, Greg made it clear he wasn't ready to leave without a fight and performed a fiery Paso, taking the judges' criticisms on board from the first time around.

After the dances, judge Craig Revel Horwood said he was saving Greg and Rutherford. He said: "This couple totally nailed the dance this time round."

Darcey agreed, but fellow judge Bruno opted to save Daisy and Aljaz. The final decision was given to head judge Len Goodman, who said he was choosing "head over heart" and saving Greg Rutherford and Natalie.

Speaking after the decision, a teary Daisy said: "I've loved every minute. Everyone here is so unbelievable. Thank you so much for everything, I've loved every moment."

Comforting his partner, Aljaz said: "You have been the most joyous in rehearsal. You are the most beautiful person inside and out, you are the most beautiful dancer, thank you for making this Strictly unforgettable for me."

Tonight's show included a Remembrance Sunday-themed dance dedicated to former soldiers Basil and Marge, who fell in love during World War Two.

Next week's show will see the couples head to Blackpool to perform in the world-famous Tower Ballroom.

Strictly Come Dancing continues next Saturday at 6:55pm on BBC1.
