Model Daisy Lowe joins the Strictly Come Dancing line-up

Daisy Lowe has been announced as the eighth contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, joining Louise Redknapp, Ed Ball and Will Young in the line-up

Model Daisy Lowe is the eighth celebrity contestant to sign up for Strictly Come Dancing.

The 27-year-old joins the celebrity line-up which already includes former Hollyoaks actor Danny Mac, ex Eternal member Louise Redknapp, ex-shadow chancellor Ed Balls, singer Will Young, TV presenter Laura Whitmore, radio DJ Melvin Odoom and sports broadcaster Ore Oduba.

She is the daughter of singer-turned-designer Pearl Lowe and rock band Bush's singer Gavin Rossdale.

She said: “I am used to being on the catwalk and campaigns of major fashion brands with lots of eyes on me, but this is completely different from anything I have ever done before!

“My family and friends and I adore Strictly, so when the chance came up to take part – I jumped at it! I am itching to get started and am so looking forward to learning a new skill.”

Her modelling career began when she was discovered at the age of 15 and she has modelled for major brands like Chanel, while also appearing on catwalks in New York, London and Milan for top fashion brands.

She has posed topless for men’s magazine Esquire and nude for Playboy.

Daisy is rumoured to be dating former Pop Idol and Popstars contestant Darius Campbell. She previously dated DJ and music producer Mark Ronson and Doctor Who star Matt Smith.

She also dated musician Thomas Cohen, the husband of her friend Peaches Geldof who died in April 2014.
