Becks was only a guest on Peaky Blinders set!

David Beckham in Peaky Blinders sounds a very curious idea, but it looked on the cards after the football legend posted a string of snaps from the set of the BBC2 hit!

Peaky Blinders fans then suddenly became very excited about the idea that they could be watching Becks taking on Thomas Shelby.

In one of the pictures David Beckham posted, he could be seen smiling under a gigantic painting of Shelby, played by Cillian Murphy.

But sadly a spokesperson for Peaky Blinders revealed to the Manchester Evening News that Becks didn’t have a cameo in the new series.

Becks also posted pictures of himself alongside the show’s creator, Steven Knight, and underneath another giant painting, this one of Thomas’s older brother, Arthur Shelby.

The official Peaky Blinders Instagram page (above) also posted the snap of David with Steven, declaring: "Creator Steven Knight shows @David Beckham around the Peaky Blinders set.”

The BBC2 series will be back later this year and will pick up with Thomas Shelby now as the Labour MP for Birmingham South.

We got a brief glimpse of what the new series will look like in a BBC drama trailer (above) for 2019.

Peaky Blinders - sadly without David Beckham - is rumoured to be back this summer.
