Troubled ITV breakfast show Daybreak is reportedly set to be renamed Good Morning UK in a revamp aimed at bringing in more viewers.
According to the Sunday Mirror show chiefs are keen to give the programme a more 'newsy' angle, to allow it to better compete with its rival BBC Breakfast.
The show has struggled in the ratings since it launched in autumn 2010, and currently brings in around 1m viewers compared to the average 1.5m tuned in to the BBC.
Presenter Eamonn Holmes could also be lured away from Sky News to front the show, which is currently presented by Aled Jones and Lorraine Kelly.
However an ITV spokesperson told the paper there were no plans to replace the pair.
“Our new Director of Daytime Helen Warner is looking at the whole of the Daytime schedule and Daybreak is part of this," the spokesperson said.
“Aled and Lorraine are fantastic presenters and remain a key part of plans moving forward.”
The paper also reports that the colourful set could be swapped for a more formal setting, while the title could be changed within a year - although once again this has not been confirmed.
"The people in charge of the show desperately want it to be a success," a source said.
“Every detail of the show is being looked at and they are willing to try anything to make the show more attractive to the viewer.”
Daybreak was initially hosted by Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley, who moved to ITV from the BBC, where they had presented The One Show together.
However the pair were axed just over a year later and replaced by Dan Lobb and Kate Garraway before the current line-up took over last autumn.
