Denise Welch quits Loose Women panel

Denise Welch has quit the panel of Loose Women following an apparent disagreement over changes to the format of the show.

The Sunday Mirror reports that the 55-year-old walked out on Friday after a meeting with the show's new boss Helen Warner.

And she told the paper: "Yes I've quit. I was hurt that changes were made and kept a secret, and that the person responsible for the decisions hadn't come and talked to me about it.

"She must have known how I felt. When you have invested 10 years in a job our views should mean something and our feelings should be taken into account."

Denise added: "I feel my wings have been clipped. Fundamentally the fun of the show is what made it for me, and I feel the way it's going it's losing the fun of it."

She revealed that she was now contemplating a return to full-time acting, having previously been a key part of the Coronation Street and Waterloo Road casts.

Denise's departure comes in the wake of the news that Coleen Nolan and Kaye Adams are returning to the show.

“Coleen and Kaye were hugely popular names on Loose Women and we are thrilled to have them back," an ITV spokeswoman said.

"Their return is part of a welcome change in direction for the show."
