Some new details may have just been confirmed…

The festive period might be the last thing on your mind during the current heat wave but the possibility of a Doctor Who Christmas special has got us itching to dig out the tinsel.

An unofficial online CV leak appears to suggest a special for December is very much in the works and claims to name the director and producer.

The CV is allegedly that of editor Edel McDonnell and claims he is working on the Christmas episode – alongside Wayne Yip and Nikki Wilson, in the above roles respectively.

Although the BBC has declined to comment on the mystery CV, given that there have been 13 festive episodes of Doctor Who since it’s return in 2005 it seems likely they’ll continue the tradition in 2018.

And despite the authenticity of the document still unknown, fans have taken to social media to reveal their excitement.

One wrote: ‘We are getting a Doctor Who Christmas special. Am screaming.’ And another said: ‘I’m glad that a Doctor Who Christmas special seems to have been confirmed now. They’ve been part of my Christmas tradition since I became a fan. Festivities wouldn’t be the same without it.’

Here’s hoping Jodie Whittaker’s Time Lord does get a winter adventure!
