Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay's younger brother, who faces a heroin possession charge, has completed his defence in an Indonesian court. Police say Ronnie Ramsay, 39, was caught with 100 milligrammes of heroin during a police search outside a supermarket on the Indonesian resort island of Bali. No verdict has been reached, but Ramsay's lawyer had said his client intended to plead guilty. Chief prosecutor Ngurah Agung Kusumayasa previously demanded a 14-month sentence at the Denpasar District Court, where Ramsay sat quietly as he followed the proceedings. He has been in custody since February. Under Indonesia's tough drug laws, Ramsay could face a maximum 10-year jail sentence if convicted. Penalties are generally less for possession of small quantities of drugs for personal use. However, traffickers are routinely sentenced to death. At the end of 2006, 134 people were on death row, including 37 foreigners and 97 Indonesians, most of them for drug-related crimes.
