Former Hollyoaks star Danny Mac, who played Dodger Savage in the Channel 4 soap, has been named in the Strictly Come Dancing line-up

Ex Hollyoaks hunk Danny Mac became the seventh celebrity to be named in Strictly Come Dancing 2016.

The announcement was made via the official BBC Strictly Twitter and Facebook feeds.

Danny said: “I’m as terrified as I am excited! I’ve done a few bits and bobs of secret filming for the show and it’s all become very real now. I can’t believe that I am now part of the biggest show on television and I cannot wait to get started.”

Danny has been a professional actor since the age of 10. Following a number of roles in his childhood and teenage years, Danny starred in the multi-award winning West End production of Wicked, for four years performing in the ensemble and as the understudy for Boq, one of the lead male characters.

Danny left London for Liverpool in 2011 after being offered a role in Hollyoaks, where he played the part of Mark ‘Dodger’ Savage.

Danny’s character became hugely popular, earning him a big fan base and he was voted Soap’s Sexiest Man at the Inside Soap Awards three times, while he also won Sexiest Male at the British Soap Awards twice.

Danny will join Ed Ball, Laura Whitmore, Louise Redknapp and others when Strictly Come Dancing premieres on BBC1 in September.
