Ben Fogle says he will reunite with James Cracknell for a gruelling desert challenge next year, ahead of his daring attempt to swim across the Atlantic Ocean. The daredevil duo, whose previous expeditions include rowing across the Atlantic and racing to the South Pole together, will team up for the first time since James was involved in a near-fatal accident more than two years ago. The double Olympic rowing gold medallist suffered a serious brain injury after he was hit by a truck in July 2010 while attempting to travel from Los Angeles to New York in 16 days - running, cycling, rowing and swimming. Ben, 39, said the pair will now take part in a 'desert-based' expedition before he takes on his most punishing challenge alone, spending up to 12 hours a day in the water - swimming the equivalent of the Channel each day - to cross the Atlantic in his target of 100 days. "The first part of next year I'll be doing something with James again," he said. "It'll be the first thing we've done together since his big accident and a chance to get to know him again. "It's a big desert-based challenge and very different to anything we've done before, given we've covered ice and snow and water. It will be pretty special." Ben's training regime for his swim has been put on hold as he prepares for his latest adventure alongside James, with full details of their challenge set to be announced in the new year. The presenter will face the risks of icebergs and sharks during his epic 3,000-mile (4,828km) swim from the US to Cornwall, which he says will be his last big challenge. Only one other person has completed the ocean swim, and Ben will be accompanied by a support yacht for sleeping and eating. He will log his starting and stopping points each day to ensure he swims the full distance.
