Friends' Matthew Perry and supermodel Cara Delevingne to star in Sky Arts series

Cara Delevingne, the model of the moment, and former Friends actor Matthew Perry are to star in a new season of Playhouse Presents on Sky Arts 1

They are just two big names in the series of one-off, 30-minute dramas and comedies which will begin on May 1. The season will also feature Billie Piper, Ben Whishaw, Jo Brand and Daniel Mays.

Cara Delevingne, who has had small parts in films, will make her UK TV acting debut opposite veteran actress Sylvia Sims in Timeless, a drama about a young woman and her great-grandmother who, despite the big age difference, discover they have more in common than they realised.

Matthew Perry will make his British TV debut in The Dog Thrower, which tells the story of a nervous young man who sees a charismatic guy throwing his dog in the air to wild acclaim and decides to follow suit with disastrous consequences.

Billie Piper and Ben Whishaw star in Foxtrot about a gang heist that goes wrong, while Richard Wilson and Simon Callow play two ageing astronauts on a perilous mission to a faraway planet in Space Age.

Daniel Mays, Ashley Walters and Scarlett Alice Johnson star in Nightshift, the tale of two coppers who discuss life, the universe and everything as they patrol the streets of south-east London after dark.

The Cruise stars Jane Horrocks as a hairdresser who has been looking forward to going on a cruise with her mechanic husband (Jason Watkins), but a week before they depart, he starts to get cold feet about the trip.  Jo Brand plays a social worker and single mum who is having a very bad day in  Damned.

Finally, in Nosferatu in Love, a tormented movie actor (Mark Strong) is starring as Nosferatu when he runs away to nearby Czech town where he teams up with a local petty crook.

Playhouse Presents begins on Sky Arts 1 on May 1.
