Hairy Biker Dave Myers signs up for Strictly

Hairy Bikers chef Dave Myers has reportedly become the first celebrity to be confirmed for the 2013 series of Strictly Come Dancing.

According to The Sun Dave - best known for his TV partnership with fellow Hairy Biker chef Simon King - was approached to take part in the series after The Great British Bake Off's Paul Hollywood turned it down.

The paper also reports he will pocket a £25,000 fee for the show - which comes after he lost weight and attempted to embark on a healthier lifestyle.

"Dave's transformed himself. He's a lot lighter on his feet and has much more confidence," a source said.

With the new series of Strictly due to kick off in the autumn, a whole host of big names have already been rumoured to be taking to the dancefloor.

Others tipped for a spot on the show include Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher, Olympic swimmer Rebecca Adlington, footballer Michael Owen and former X Factor winner Joe McElderry.

Model Abbey Clancy and TV presenter Anneka Rice have also been tipped as possible participants.

The next series will also see Bruce Forsyth take more time off than before, opting out of three shows instead of taking his usual week's break.
