Harry Potter’s Rupert Grint stars in a new British comedy with Nick Frost and Don Johnson

British actor Rupert Grint, who is best known as Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter movies, will be joining Brit comic Nick Frost and former Miami Vice star Don Johnson in Sky Atlantic’s new comedy series Sick Note, about a big lie that spirals out of control.

Sick Note follows Rupert’s character Daniel Glass, a compulsive liar, who’s stuck in a failing relationship and a dead end job under his awful boss Kenny West (Don Johnson). Then, just when things couldn’t get any worse, he’s diagnosed with esophageal cancer.

It’s then, however, Daniel finds everyone starts to treat him far better because of his diagnosis and suddenly he finds a new lust for life. But when he later finds out he was misdiagnosed by the most incompetent oncologist on Earth, Dr Ian Glennis (Nick Frost) Daniel has a big decision to make - come clean and go back to his old rubbish life, or keep this new information a secret and pretend to be ill.

He decides to go for the latter but very quickly the lie spirals out of control and both Daniel and Dr Glennis have to spend all of their waking lives trying to prevent the truth from getting out.

“We’re delighted to welcome the stellar cast of Rupert Grint, Nick Frost and Don Johnson to Sky Atlantic in this smart new original comedy,” explains Zai Bennett, Director of Sky Atlantic."

Jo Sargent, Managing Director at King Bert said “We are thrilled that we are making Sick Note for Sky Atlantic. Nat and James have done a brilliant job creating an enticing and funny hook and I look forward to our stellar cast bringing their hilarious scripts to life”.

Set to air on Sky Atlantic in early 2017 the entire series will be made available on Sky Box Sets from its premiere.

TV Content Director on TV Times, What's On TV and TV & Satellite Week

I'm a huge fan of television so I really have found the perfect job, as I've been writing about TV shows, films and interviewing major television, film and sports stars for over 25 years. I'm currently TV Content Director on What's On TV, TV Times, TV and Satellite Week magazines plus Whattowatch.com. I previously worked on Woman and Woman's Own in the 1990s. Outside of work I swim every morning, support Charlton Athletic football club and get nostalgic about TV shows Cagney & Lacey, I Claudius, Dallas and Tenko. I'm totally on top of everything good coming up too.
