Lord Sugar’s aide Karren Brady tells TV Times magazine about her ability to juggle being a businesswoman, wife, mother, writer and star of the hit BBC1 reality show The Apprentice... Karren, you take multitasking to another level! How do you manage it all? “It's a lot of juggling!” Do you have to split your time carefully between your work life and home life? “I have to try and juggle my week as carefully as possible. Sometimes there are priorities in London, sometimes there’s priorities at home. I try and do my best to carve myself between the two.” Is it sometimes difficult, though? “It can be. My daughter’s doing her GCSEs at the moment, so I’m always feeling a bit torn about being at work and being with her.” It must be easier now that your children [Sophia, 15, and Paolo, 13] are a bit older? “Yes. As they grow up, they want their own space a bit more. And there are so many after-school clubs and matches an all of those sorts of things that they’ve got a busier diary than me some days!” How do you cope with all of your work when also filming The Apprentice? “I’ve done a few series now, so I’ve sort of got into the swing of things. When we’re filming, the days are very long, so there’s not always a chance to catch up with phone calls and emails. Then when I finish for the day on The Apprentice, I start my West Ham work. And actually, that’s quite nice. It keeps things fresh.” And presumably Lord Sugar understands that! “Oh God yes! He has a number of businesses that he has to manage in and around his filming commitments, too.” Do you enjoy working on The Apprentice? “It’s something I really enjoy. I mean all Nick and I do is run around after the candidates taking notes for Alan. It’s very much his show and he’s brilliant at it.”
