Katie Price welcomes baby boy Jett Riviera

Model and reality TV star Katie Price has given birth to a son, Jett Riviera, after being taken ill while on holiday with her family.

The baby was born eight weeks prematurely by emergency caesarean after Katie developed an infection which posed a threat to her unborn child's health.

She later said that little Jett was delivered after his heart rate dropped to dangerous levels.

"I went through a nightmare," she revealed. "The baby's heart rate was really low. The next thing I know the nurse is in my room saying get ready now."

Katie also told The Sun that her husband Kieran Hayler was not allowed to be by her side during the delivery.

"He's never seen me like that before," she said. " I was sobbing, "I love you, I love you...he must have thought his wife had turned into a lunatic.

"Bringing life into the world is supposed to be magical. But what I went through was a nightmare."

She also revealed that she suffered further trauma when Jett, who weighed just 5lb 2oz when he was born, was quickly whisked away from her,

I wanted to be near my baby," Katie said. "The only thing that got me through the nightmare was the thought of cradling my little boy."

Jett, who is currently in a special care unit in hospital, is reportedly "doing well".

The baby is Katie's third son following 11-year-old Harvey - her child with footballer Dwight Yorke - and Junior, eight, from her marriage to Peter Andre.

She and Peter also have a six-year-old daughter, Princess.
