Keeley: 'It was a great opportunity to go a bit mad!'

Keeley Hawes took the role in The Tunnel, Sky Atlantic’s remake of Swedish/Danish thriller The Bridge, because it was a great opportunity to 'go a bit mad'.

The Ashes to Ashes star plays the drug addict sister of a suspect in the story, which centres on an investigation into the suspicious death of a politician whose body is found on the border between France and the UK.

"I’m in the first three episodes," she tells TV Times. "She’s a very troubled character and it was just very appealing because I thought it’s a great opportunity to go a bit mad."

The Tunnel is at the heart of Sky’s autumn schedule. Other highlights include Sky Living’s Dracula, which sees Tudors actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers starring in the lavish remake of Bram Stoker’s classic tale, and Ross Kemp’s Extreme World on Sky 1, with the former EastEnders star this time heading to Northern Ireland.
