Kylie Minogue is new coach on The Voice UK

Kylie Minogue is the new coach on The Voice UK, the BBC has confirmed.

The Aussie pop queen, who takes over from Jessie J, will be sitting in the spinning red chair alongside returning coaches Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am. The fourth coach, replacing Danny O'Donoghue, has yet to be named.

Grammy award-winner Kylie has had worldwide record sales of more than 68 million and was given an OBE for services to music. With 10 world tours, 11 successful albums and over 50 hit singles internationally.

Kylie said: "I'm very excited to become a coach on The Voice UK. I love the concept of the show and have been an avid viewer of both series. The search for new talent is such an important aspect of the music industry and The Voice UK gives us all a part to play in that. Will I be competitive? Probably more than even I imagine! Watch this space!"

Mark Linsey, Controller Entertainment Commissioning, BBC, said: “Kylie is a hugely respected figure within the world of music and will be a fantastic addition to The Voice UK. She is a true pop icon and her longevity in the industry is testament to her creative and musical ability.”

Moira Ross, Head of Entertainment for Wall to Wall, the production company who make The Voice UK, said: “In terms of pop royalty, it really doesn’t get much better than Kylie. With more than two decades of global success under her belt, I know she’ll bring something truly special to the coaching line-up.”

will.i.am and Sir Tom have both welcomed the news. “While I will miss Danny and Jessie, I’m excited to be returning for season three and to work with Kylie and Tom,' said will.i.am. "Together we will mix it up and bring new energy and ideas to the show.”

Sir Tom said: “I'm really looking forward to series three of The Voice UK and although I'll miss Jessie and Danny, Kylie and the fourth coach will be a welcome addition to the line-up."

Charlotte Moore, Controller of BBC One, said: “To secure the princess of pop Kylie and announce the return of will.i.am and Sir Tom is a really great moment for the show. Bring on The Voice series three, back on BBC One in January 2014!"
