Iron Sun eliminated from Let It Shine semi-final after emotional sing-off

Let it shine, iron sun

The four boybands were put through their paces ahead of the Let It Shine semi-final. Nightfall, Five to Five, Iron Sun and Drive had to show off their dancing skills keep their places in the competition.

Iron Sun were knocked out of Let It Shine tonight after an emotional Beatles-themed sing-off.

The four boybands were put through their paces this week as they had to show the audience and judges that they could dance as well as sing ahead of next week's final.

Five to Five were the first boyband to perform, singing Billy Joel's classic love song Tell Her About it.

Iron Sun were next on stage, attempting to impress the judges with their version of Lady Gaga's pop hit Born This Way.

The bands were followed by fellow contestants Drive, who sang Girls On Film, and Nightfall.

The public were given the opportunity to vote for their favourite bands, and Nightfall and Five to Five received the highest number of public votes.

Drive were saved by the judges

It meant Iron Sun and Drive were forced to defend their places in the competition in a Beatles-themed sing-off.

Iron Sun (Alexis Gerrard, Harry Brown, Clinton Elvis, Matt Knigh, and Jordan Harvey) sang The Long and Winding Road, while Drive (Conor McLoughlin, Matt Thorpe, Jazzie Mattis, Jonnie Halliwell, Mark Angels) sang 1969 hit Something.

The bands then faced a tense few moments as the judges deliberated on which band members they wanted to save.

Last week the judges revealed they could choose to save individual band members, however this week Gary Barlow, Danni Minogue, Martin Kemp and guest judge Ashley Roberts unanimously chose to save all members of Drive, meaning Iron Sun were knocked out of the competition.

The remaining bands are one step closer to being crowned winners of the competition.

The winning band will be given the opportunity to star in a brand new musical featuring Take That's music.

The Let It Shine live final airs next Saturday on BBC1.
