Michael Owen 'snubs Strictly' for I'm A Celeb

Former Man United star Michael Owen has reportedly turned down the chance to appear in Strictly Come Dancing - and is now eyeing a spot in the I'm A Celebrity...jungle instead.

The footballer told the Daily Star Sunday that he was keen on a place in the ITV jungle show, but admitted producers would have to make it worth his while.

"I've just been asked to do this year's I'm A Celebrity," he said. "I got offered to do Strictly before but turned it down.

"If I was ever going to do one it would be the jungle but I would need to be offered a few quid to do it, that's for sure."

And Michael admitted that he would potentially shake things up in the jungle - as he would most likely be 'arguing after two minutes'.

"People think I'm a saint so they would be in for a shock," he said. "I'm not a lunatic but I don't think I would be able to contain my frustration."

The 33-year-old, who is now a commentator for the new BT Sport channel, added: "You have to keep a level of professionalism in the public eye but it would be hard in the jungle."

I'm A Celebrity is due to return later this year, although no names have yet been linked to this year's line-up.

This year's Strictly line-up is rumoured to include rugby star Ben Cohen, pop star Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Hairy Biker chef Dave Myers and TV personality Vanessa Feltz.
