Piers Morgan could become a regular fixture on Good Morning Britain

If you didn’t catch it last week, there was a surprise guest presenter on ITV’s Good Morning Britain last week. Chat show host, former Britain’s Got Talent judge and controversial journalist Piers Morgan stood in for regular host Ben Shephard alongside Susanna Reid.

Morgan was called in to cover for 40-year-old Ben, who’s working on the channel’s new Saturday-night show Ninja Warrior UK.

After his five-day stint pulled in 50,000 more viewers for the breakfast-time programme, the show’s bosses are thinking about making his a permanent fixture and may even join Susanna Reid as a co-anchor.

According to the Sunday People, ITV chiefs had admitted they were taking a gamble on Morgan, but now insiders are delighted with the response from viewers.

A source told the paper: “Piers’ stint was seen as testing the water; he passed with flying colours. He struck up great chemistry with Susanna and was a shot in the arm for the show.

“There is talk about him landing his own show or even returning to a more permanent role on Good Morning Britain.”
