We never would have guessed it!

The second Royal Wedding of 2018 took place yesterday, as Princess Eugenie - married her longterm boyfriend, tequila brand ambassador Jack Brooksbank.

And ratings have now been released for exclusive coverage of the wedding from ITV's This Morning, with the ceremony providing big viewing viewers for the daytime show.

The marriage between Jack and Eugenie - who is currently ninth in line to the throne - aired to an average audience of 3 million viewers.

It gave This Morning its bet ratings in years, with the weekday magazine show typically airing to an audience of around one million.

But what was even more surprising, is that the numbers also outdid ITV's coverage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding earlier this year.

On May 19, 2.5 million viewers turned in to ITV watch Harry and Meghan say 'I do'.

Of course their ceremony was also broadcast on other networks, including BBC One and Sky and amassed a total audience of around 18 million viewers.

However, Princess Eugenie's wedding, which took place at Windsor's St George's Chapel, clearly proved to be a hit for the network.

The extended special, which  ran between 9:30pm and 12:30pm from Windsor with Eamonn Holmes OBE and Ruth Langsford peaked with an audience of 4 million.

And in the evening, a  30 minute highlights show, The Royal Wedding: A Family Celebration, averaged 3.4 million viewers at 8pm, making it ITV's most watched programme of the day outside of the news and soaps.

The lavish day saw the newlyweds share a kiss on the steps of St George's Chapel after the  ceremony attended by royals and celebrities, including models Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne and X Factor judge Robbie Williams.

The couple shared two shy kisses on the steps, one just outside the chapel, and another before they boarded the Scottish State Coach for a public ride around Windsor.

Members of the royal family, including The Queen, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Harry and Meghan were among the 850-strong congregation attending the wedding.
