Digital TV network UKTV launches one new channel and two rebranded channels on Tuesday, October 7, with chat show stars Richard and Judy at the heart of its new programming. Richard and Judy's New Position will feature on the new channel, Watch, a new entertainment offering which boasts a number of popular recent BBC series, including Cranford, Lark Rise to Candleford, Planet Earth and Mistresses, as well as Dancing With the Stars. Richard Madeley said of his and wife Judy's move from Channel 4: "Digital has been expanding and growing across the whole platform, and digital is really going to hit us. It just seems exactly the right moment to join a really big channel that's got a big spend available - half-owned by the BBC, half-owned by Virgin Media - and it's a muscley place to go." UKTV's Alibi channel (formerly UKTV Drama) will become exclusively home to quality crime drama, including US series Murdoch Mysteries, and BBC series such as Silent Witness and New Tricks. UKTV G.O.L.D (formerly UKTV Gold) will exclusively present comedy programming, including a celebration of Blackadder's 25th anniversary, plus Fawlty Towers, Only Fools and Horses and The Two Ronnies.
