Richard Osman to host new BBC2 quiz show Two Tribes

Richard Osman has landed his own series - presenting a new quiz show Two Tribes.

The 43-year-old Pointless co-host will front the BBC Two series later this year.

Contestants will be quizzed on their general knowledge and will be split into teams based on how they answer 'funny and surprising' questions about themselves in the daytime shows.

Richard, who co-presents the popular BBC One game show Pointless with Alexander Armstrong, is an unlikely TV star and heartthrob.

The 6ft 7in co-host was working as a TV executive when he pitched Pointless, in which contestants have to find the least obvious answers, to the BBC.

After demonstrating the role of co-host during the pitch, TV bosses were so impressed that they asked him to help front the show.

He recently said: "I never went into this with the idea of having an on-screen TV career, it was completely accidental."

James Fox, executive producer of Two Tribes, said of the new series: "It's a brilliantly play-along game as you root for the tribe you belong to and answer lots of quick-fire general knowledge questions.

"We're really looking forward to seeing Richard come out from behind the Pointless desk to front the show and get to know the contestants like never before."

Contestants compete for a cash prize in the 30-minute shows, to be made by Remarkable Television, an Endemol company.
