Victor Meldrew will be returning from the grave for one final appearance.

Actor Richard Wilson is reviving the beloved One Foot In The Grave curmudgeon for a sketch in his new one-off one-man show.

Richard said: “I am bringing Victor back for a night. I am going to do 20 minutes of Victor because the guy who wrote One Foot In The Grave wrote an episode of Victor by himself and it was a brilliant episode.”

Richard played Victor, the irascible pensioner at war with middle class suburbia, for five series from 1990-1995 and returned for a final series in 2000.

The BBC hit won the 1992 Bafta for best comedy and regularly appears on lists of Britain’s best sitcoms.

Victor’s catchphrase, “I don’t believe it!”, is one of the most recognisable on television.

The 79-year-old added that he would love to take the one-man show on tour to Las Vegas.

“I would love to go to Vegas. Do you think I am too old to do a one man show there?” he asked.

Since One Foot In The Grave, Richard appeared in all five series of popular BBC programme Merlin as the wizard’s mentor, Gaius.

Richard said he made his first will five years ago, but he has no plans to retire just yet.

“I am into my 80th year. I have no plans to retire as I still want to (perform). If I did, I would be bored and I would get slouchy and give up,” he said to The Mirror.

He admitted that he regularly thinks about death, but has not planned his funeral.

“I just want people to have a good time,” he said.

Richard also revealed that he takes blood pressure pills and statins and keeps three days a week alcohol-free to look after his health.

An Evening With Richard Wilson will take place on October 23 at The Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, part of the Sheffield Theatres group of which Wilson is associate director.
