Ripper Street announces news stars for series 2

The second instalment of Victorian crime-noir Ripper Street is currently being filmed in Dublin and fans can expect to see a few new faces on the streets of East London next year.

One of the new cast members joining Reid, Drake and Jackson (played by Matthew MacFayden, Jerome Flynn and Adam Rothenberg respectively) is Being Human's Damien Molony, who joins H Division as new detective constable Albert Flight (above).

Meanwhile, David Costabile (Breaking Bad, Lincoln, The Wire) will be arriving in Whitechapel for the series' two-part finale, as Jackson's older brother Daniel Judge. Joseph Mawle (Birdsong, Game of Thrones) joins as Jedidiah Shine - a corrupt rival to Detective Reid – and newcomer Leanne Best, plays Jane Cobden, the first woman elected to London City Council.

There are also guest appearances from Paul Kaye (Game of Thrones, Dennis Pennis) and Neve McIntosh, who plays Doctor Who's green-faced accomplice Madame Vastra.

Myanna Buring and Charlene McKenna both return as series favourites Long Susan and Rose.

Ripper Street returns to BBC1 in early 2014.
