Sophie Ellis-Bextor finishes fourth in Strictly final

Sophie Ellis-Bextor has missed out on the chance to be crowned Strictly Come Dancing champion 2013 after finishing fourth in the final.

The Murder On The Dancefloor singer, who was partnering Brendan Cole in the show, lost out after receiving the lowest number of viewer votes in the first half of Saturday's show.

Her elimination leaves Susanna Reid, Natalie Gumede and Abbey Clancy to battle it out in the second half of the show in their bid to lift the glitterball trophy.

Afterwards Sophie said she had had an 'incredible' on the show, adding: "I didn't come here to win, I came here to dance."

Meanwhile Brendan told her: "I've had the best series, and she has been the best partner a guy could wish for."

The first part of the show saw the singer reprise her Viennese Waltz from earlier in the series - her judges' choice of dance - as well as performing a showdance to Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance With Somebody.

She once again won praise from the judges for her efforts, with her showdance - featuring a string of tricky lifts - particularly impressing them.

"It must be a dream come true to achieve that lift," Darcey Bussell commented. "There was so much in there."

Meanwhile Bruno Tonioli added: "I love to see you throwing caution to the wind and throwing your legs in the air...enjoy yourself."
