Strictly Come Dancing producers are ditching the Sunday results show in favour of an extended live show on Saturday nights, according to reports. The new show, which is likely to last for 90 minutes, will feature all of the performances to be followed by a dance-off, after which one couple will be eliminated from the competition, says The Mirror. Strictly now hopes to dominate the schedule on Saturday nights - and the move means that Strictly's results will not clash with ITV1's X Factor, which recently announced it was moving its results show from Saturday to Sunday. A BBC spokeswoman told the Mirror: "We wanted to make Strictly Come Dancing an unmissable TV event so we are packing all the action into one dramatic show. "Audiences will be watching, voting and seeing who is in and who is out on Saturday night." For Strictly's first four series, its results show went out after the main show on Saturday nights until this format was scrapped in 2007 in favour of a pre-recorded results show on Sunday nights. A Strictly insider said: "The BBC are going back to the original format of having Strictly all on Saturday. It works well and the excitement builds through the night so hopefully it will work in the ratings battle with X Factor. "We think the big night for entertainment is Saturdays and so Strictly will now dominate the schedule." EastEnders stars Kara Tointon and Natalie Cassidy and Footballers' Wives actress Zoe Lucker are rumoured to be taking part in the new series of Strictly, which begins next month.
