EastEnders star Emma on working with Anton Du Beke and why she’s excited about Movies Week

It’s Movie Week this Saturday night on Strictly Come Dancing as the celebrities, including Emma Barton, and their partners pay tribute to Tinseltown with some glitzy routines.

Here, we talk to EastEnders star Emma Barton, who is dancing with Anton Du Beke, about what to expect and her own love of all things Hollywood…

Are you looking forward to Movie Week?

Emma Barton: “I’m so excited! I love Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe. I was born in the wrong era. And Hollywood is very Anton too!”

Is Anton fun to work with?

EB: “He’s so funny, kind and talented. Everything is, ‘My love’ and I’m incorporating that into my language. He’s so naughty though. It’s all double entendre but that’s me too. I'm a massive Carry On fan!”

Is there any previous Movie Week routine you’ve enjoyed?

EB: “I was jealous of Ashley Roberts last year as Baby from Dirty Dancing because that’s one of my favourite films. And it was wicked when Kellie Bright did Star Wars [in 2015] with her Princess Leia hair and a lightsaber!”

What’s the first film you remember seeing?

EB: “ET and then I saw The Delinquents with Kylie Minogue about six times. When Kylie did the Strictly launch show I embarrassed myself by screaming at her, ‘Hi Kylie!’”

Which Strictly judge would you take to the cinema?

EB: “Bruno would give a running commentary, Craig would be quiet and focused but I’d pick Shirley and Motsi for a girls’ night out!”

Are your EastEnders co-stars supporting you?

EB: "Yes! They’re so special. Tish [Letitia Dean AKA Sharon], Linda [Henry AKA Shirley], Luisa [Bradshaw-White AKA Tina] and Scott [Maslen, AKA Jack] have just sent a good luck video. But if they’re in the audience I’m saying, ‘No pulling focus from me!’ If Danny Dyer comes, nobody’ll watch my feet, they’ll gaze at him!"

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturday 5 October at 7.10pm and Strictly Come Dancing: The Results airs on Sunday 6 October at 7.15pm
