Strictly Come Dancing: The final!

Alesha Dixon and Matt Di Angelo have taken to the floor for the grand final of Strictly Come Dancing. And the pair - the last two remaining couples in the show - were neck and neck on the scoreboard after performing their first three routines of the night - with Alesha ahead of Matt by just two points. The first show of Saturday evening saw the two finalists performing some of their favourite dances of the series. Matt and dance partner Flavia Cacace kicked things off with an American Smooth, described by Len Goodman as "a great opener to the show". However Arlene Phillips was less impressed. "From the waist down you were lacking in perfect footwork and sway," she said. Meanwhile Alesha and partner Matthew Cutler wowed the judges with her first dance of the evening, a waltz. "I've got goosebumps again," Craig Revel Horwood said of her dance routine, calling it "flawless". "It sent shivers down my spine," added Bruno Tonioli. Matt and Flavia fared well in the Latin round also, with their salsa getting a unanimous thumbs-up - and Alesha's cha cha cha, performed to Beyonce's Crazy In Love, led Len Goodman to call her the "best female celebrity we've had". Finally, the two couples danced to the judges' choice of music - the T-Rex song We Love To Boogie - with their own choice of dance. Matt and Flavia performed a quickstep while Alesha and Matthew opted for a jive. At the end of the show the judges admitted it was one of the closest finals they had ever had. "This is one of the tightest competitions we've ever seen," Craig Revel Horwood told them. "Matt, you've improved so much, well done. Alesha - challenging, brilliant." The other contestants from the series also appeared, reprising some of the routines they performed. Brian Capron, the first person to be eliminated, returned to the floor, while Kelly Brook, who dropped out of the series after the death of her father, performed a Viennese waltz with partner Brendan Cole. The winner, to be decided by public vote, will be announced later on Saturday evening after the two remaining couples have each danced for the last time.
