The stars rumoured to have signed up to this year's Strictly

It's the middle of summer, but already thoughts are turning to cosy autumns nights of settling down to watch Strictly Come Dancing.

Speculation about this year’s celebrity contestants is beginning to heat up with a few famous names rumoured to have signed up to the BBC1 show.

Among them are singer, TV presenter and frozen food ambassador Peter Andre, former Xtra Factor host Sarah Jane Crawford and EastEnders actor Shane Richie.

According to The Sun, former Liberty X singer Michelle Heaton is the latest celebrity to have signed up to the BBC1 show.

Michelle rose to fame on ITV’s pre-X Factor talent show Popstars, a search for five talented singers to form a pop group. She made to the final ten, but wasn’t selected for the group that was to become HearSay. But while the band’s success was short-lived, Michelle found greater pop success by forming Liberty X with the other four runners up.

In 2012, Heaton was diagnosed with a gene that gave her an 80% chance of developing breast cancer and a 30% chance of developing ovarian cancer. So she took the brave move of having a double mastectomy and a full hysterectomy.

In recent years, the mum of two has become better known for appearing on reality shows such as Celebrity Big Brother, Seven Days With… and The Big Reunion, which saw her reunited with her Liberty X pals. And she’s made no secret of the fact that she would love the chance to appear on Strictly.

But a source told The Sun: "The bosses were struck by Michelle's story and enthusiasm for the show.”

Earlier this year she said: "I think Strictly's every girl's dream to do a show that makes you feel really glamorous and special.

"And the last few years have been really rough so it'd be really nice to feel womanly again and do something positive and learn a craft."
