The Misadventures of Romesh Ranganathan, 9pm, BBC2
Romesh’s next holiday with a difference is to Ethiopia. All he knows is that Ethiopia suffers from terrible famines and drought, mainly because Bob Geldolf sang about them, but is there more to this vast country than that? Alongside guide Mike Tamerat, Romesh heads off and encounters ancient churches, jazz musicians, Rastafarians and camels. But he also discovers a country which is in the grip of a repressive political regime. It’s a conflicted place, but also one full of unique natural beauty. Rating: ****
World’s Tiniest Masterpieces, 10.10pm, C4
Willard Wigan is an artist whose masterpieces can sit on top of a pinhead. His tiny sculptures in the eye of a needle mystify as much as they delight. This truly unbelievable work now commands a price tag that is anything but tiny. This film tells Willard’s story, not just of how he creates his art, but also the tale of his childhood. Dyslexic and bullied at school, he never learnt to read or write but spent his time making houses for ants. He is now attempting to create the world’s tiniest sculpture from a single hair! Poldark, 9pm, BBC1
We don’t know how writer Debbie Horsfield manages to cram so much into every episode! Tonight is no exception as Ross is busy in Westminster trying – but failing – to bring about change while also continuing to support poor Caroline. Meanwhile, Lady Whitworth returns to the vicarage to help her son, odious Ossie, make life even more miserable for Morwenna. However, there is a shock in store for the Whitworth family… Rating: ****
