Running Wild with Bear Grylls, 10pm, Discovery
The new series kicks off with Bear Grylls taking actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Kenya for a two-day adrenaline-fuelled macho mini-break like no other. Bear arrives hanging off a helicopter (of course) and whisks Joseph off to the searing desert for the chance to drink camel milk, eat rotting buffalo tongue and camp among some of the world’s most dangerous predators. Joseph, who found fame in the American sitcom Third Rock from the Sun, is a self-confessed city boy who’s not that comfortable with Bear’s version of the wild. But he gives it a really good go, embracing his inner tough guy and conquering his fears. Although we’re not sure he’ll be ordering buffalo again! Rating: ****
Inside Cadbury, 9pm, Channel 5
For nearly 200 years, the magic of chocolate has had its roots in one place – Bournville, Birmingham. Now Channel 5 opens the doors of Cadbury’s factory and meets some of the people behind this iconic brand, including a Milk Tray Man and a Flake girl! Just don’t expect to find out the recipe for Dairy Milk. Rating: ***
Get a Holiday Body, 8pm, Channel 5
Two celebrities – Antony Costa of boyband Blue and Zoe Birkett, who found fame on the first series of Pop Idol – attempt to lose a stone in four weeks in this new series. They have a nutritionist and personal trainer and lots of time, it seems, to dedicate to their weight-loss goal. What makes this diet show more interesting, however, is that the executive producer of the show, mum-of-three Nicky Taylor, is also going to try and shed the pounds – but without the nutritionist and personal trainer. With tasty, simple recipes and tips on how to increase your exercise without hitting the gym, this is a really practical and realistic plan. Rating: ****
