TV Times tops picks for tonight
What’s on telly tonight? Here the TV Times team of expert reviewers highlight three of the best shows on telly tonight for Wednesday 15th November
Peaky Blinders, 9.00pm, BBC2
The Peaky Blinders are going toe-to-toe with the US mafia, as this slick and stylish crime drama set in 1920s Birmingham returns for a fourth outing. Yet, with his family facing the gallows following their arrest at the end of the last series, Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) must find a way to save and then reunite his fractured outfit before taking the fight to his American rivals. This taut and action-packed first episode suggests the show is really ramping things up this year, and we can’t wait to see more of Hollywood star Adrien Brody, who steals the show with his only scene as Mob boss Luca Changretta. Rating: *****
The Secret Life of the Zoo, 8.00pm, C4
As the must-watch series returns to Chester Zoo, it’s a nail-biting time in the rhino enclosure. Kitani, an endangered eastern black rhino, is due to give birth, but as she’s lost three calves before, the keepers are worried she might be in trouble again. Elsewhere, if cockroaches freak you out, you might actually enjoy watching jewel wasp Ripley turn one into a zombie and a living meal for her newborns! In less sinister news, four recently arrived tenrecs (rare, mysterious mammals from Madagascar) are settling in, and red river hog Mali has two new babies. But dad Confetti could be a threat to their survival… Rating: ****
DIY SOS: The Million Pound Build for Children in Need, 8.00pm, BBC1
We’re in Swansea with Nick Knowles and the gang who join forces with Pudsey for a special challenge in aid of this year’s Children in Need appeal. The team’s task is to build a centre and supported housing for young people in care and leaving care – in just 11 days! It’s all hands on deck as hundreds of volunteers brave the elements and lend a hand to get the project finished on time, and as the deadline looms we hear stories from the Roots Foundation Wales, a charity supporting vulnerable people who’ll benefit from the build. Rating: ****
