TV Times team top picks for tonight

What’s on telly tonight? Here the TV Times team of expert reviewers highlight three of the best shows on telly tonight for Thursday 30th November

Love, Lies & Records, 9.00pm, BBC1

After the shocking climax of last week’s episode, we now pick up the action with poor Kate and Rob going through every parent’s worst nightmare. Is there an innocent explanation or is something more sinister afoot? As if that wasn’t enough on the head registrar’s plate, an anonymous email sent to the staff at the register office threatens everything she holds dear. Is Kate’s work rival Judy to blame? (Either way, look out for some superb sparring scenes between Ashley Jensen’s feisty Kate and Rebecca Front’s jealous Judy!). Kate somehow manages to keep her eye on the ball with her concerns over a potential sham marriage and makes an interesting breakthrough. Rating: *****

Blitz: The Bombs That Changed Britain, times vary, BBC2

Survivor Doreen recalls hiding in the air raid shelter, while Rod, who was five, reads an essay written by his brother Derek about the Blitz. The essay was part of a study used not to help the victims, but to justify the Allies’ carpet-bombing of cities such as Dresden in Germany, where 25,000 people were killed in raids. Challenging, but important social history… Rating: *****

Voyager’s Interstellar Journey, 8.55pm, BBC4

Voyager’s Interstellar Journey

(Image credit: BBC/Crossing the Line Production)

This amazing film tells the story of the two Voyager spacecraft launched in 1977 to explore the planets at the far reaches of our solar system. In this Storyville special, scientists who worked on the probes reveal what it was like seeing Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune close up for the first time. The film also looks at the contents of the golden record – a phonograph to teach any alien life-forms Voyager may run into about life on Earth. It contains 27 songs, 100 pictures and greetings in 55 languages. So much of this film just makes your jaw drop, especially the fact that both Voyagers are still out there, floating in outer space… Rating: *****
