Wallace and Gromit are to scour the country to find the UK's top amateur inventor for the BBC. The Oscar-winning pair will spearhead the talent hunt to coincide with a new BBC One series in which they will become TV presenters. Wallace And Gromit's World of Inventions is to be screened from next month, looking at contraptions which have shaped the world. As part of the project, BBC bosses are aiming to find the greatest amateur invention from across the UK. The winner or their invention will be immortalised in a future production from animator Aardman. Budding Dysons are being asked to design and build their creations from bits and pieces they find around the home. They can enter as individuals or teams, including entire school classes. Wallace and Gromit's creator Nick Park, who was behind films such as The Wrong Trousers and A Close Shave, will be among the judges. He said: "It is an enormous honour for Wallace and Gromit to be asked to take up the torch (albeit solar powered) and shine it on the world's top and most innovative inventors." The well-loved screen duo will soon be seen fronting their invention series from a studio in their 62 West Wallaby Street home, highlighting innovations around the world. And to inspire inventive minds, the BBC is hosting a series of roadshows at shopping centres to help creative juices flow from next month.
