Stardust on Blu-ray

This competition has now closed.

A young man enters a magical kingdom to retrieve a falling star for his beloved in the fairytale comedy adventure Stardust, which comes out in a Blu-ray special edition on Monday 1st February.

Directed by Matthew Vaughan (whose eagerly awaited action comedy Kick-Ass comes out in April) and based on the bestselling graphic novel by Neil Gaiman and Charles Vess, Stardust didn't get the attention it deserved when it came out in 2007, but those who did get to see this "adult fairytale" were thoroughly charmed.

The story begins in Victorian England but soon moves into a more magical realm when shop assistant Tristan Thorn (Charlie Cox) enters the fairy kingdom of Stormhold to retrieve a fallen star for his beloved Victoria (Sienna Miller). But the star has taken the form of a young woman called Yvaine (Claire Danes) and their return journey to the real world is filled with dangers.

Along the way, Tristan encounters four rival princes, an evil witch (Michelle Pfeiffer), and a cross-dressing pirate named Captain Shakespeare (Robert De Niro) and eventually discovers the meaning of true love.

To celebrate the film’s Blu-ray release, the nice folks at Paramount Home Entertainment have given us three copies of the film on Blu-ray - packed with bonus materials - to give away to three lucky winners. To be in with a chance to win, all you have to do is answer the following question correctly:

Another fantasy film based on a tale by Neil Gaiman came out last year. What was it called?

A) Opaline

B) Coraline

C) Pearlesque

Jason Best

A film critic for over 25 years, Jason admits the job can occasionally be glamorous – sitting on a film festival jury in Portugal; hanging out with Baz Luhrmann at the Chateau Marmont; chatting with Sigourney Weaver about The Archers – but he mostly spends his time in darkened rooms watching films. He’s also written theatre and opera reviews, two guide books on Rome, and competed in a race for Yachting World, whose great wheeze it was to send a seasick film critic to write about his time on the ocean waves. But Jason is happiest on dry land with a classic screwball comedy or Hitchcock thriller.
