Classical group G4 are to split, they announced on Thursday. The quartet, who shot to fame on TV talent show X Factor, gave fans the news in a message on their website - and it seem arguments may be at the heart of the decision. G4 will go their separate ways after a final summer tour. "The news that we are splitting up at the end of the summer will have come as a shock, so we wanted to write a personal message to you all," the band said. "The decision that we have come to has taken a long time and is certainly not a decision that we have taken lightly. It is a group decision, nothing to do with either the record label or management." It was reported on Thursday the group - Jonathan Ansell, Matthew Stiff, Mike Christie and Ben Thapa - have fallen out and can no longer work together. Jonathan, 24, told the Daily Mail: "We would be bitterly fighting in the back of a limo, or rowing backstage then have to put on these fake smiles for the fans and carry on as if nothing was wrong. We would row over the most niggling little things - one of us not looking smart enough, or not having shaved properly." But on their website, the band insisted: "Despite what the papers say, we are all still friends and will be continuing together in the band until the end of the summer." G4 were runners-up on the 2004 series of X Factor and went on to far outsell the winner, Steve Brookstein. READ G4's official statement here...
