Coronation Street star Chris Gascoyne has admitted that his screen alter ego Peter Barlow has such an unpredictable life he could be killed off at any time. The actor, who has played the troubled alcoholic for 11 years, has seen some tense storylines in that time which have included Peter dicing with death following the 50th anniversay tram crash. The character, who is married to Leanne, is about to embark on a fling with Carla Connor - with Chris saying he has no idea what effect it will have on Peter's marriage. "You never know with Peter do you," he told the TV Times. "This time next year he could easily be dead!" "That's one of the things I really enjoy - finding out how his life is going to unfold." Chris added that he does not see Peter having a future with Carla - even if he left Leanne for her. "Peter likes the chase. Leanne's become his wife and his little boy's mum, and it's become boring to him," he said. "I think it would be the same with Carla when reality kicks in and they have to go to work, or Simon is sick in the middle of the night."
