Cilla back with a bang in Corrie!

Cilla Battersby-Brown's children don't look very pleased to see her when she arrives back on the Coronation Street cobbles later this month.

Cilla - played by Wendi Peters - left Coronation Street in 2007 to go and live in South Africa after her wealthy sugar daddy died and left her an expensive necklace.

Now the gobby, self-centred mum is back - to the delight of fans but the horror of her kids - Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) and Chesney Battersby-Brown (Sam Aston).

Cilla bursts in on Fiz and Chesney as they are about to enjoy a special meal with friend Roy Cropper (David Neilson) - and everyone is gobsmacked to see her, including Fiz's boyfriend Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) and Chesney's partner Sinead Tinker (Katie McGynn).

In true Cilla style she has obviously been getting into trouble as she rocks up with her arm in plaster - and plans to stay as she brings plenty of luggage which she dumps on Tyrone.

It was revealed earlier this year that Wendi is returning for a six-week stint, and her storyline is thought to coincide with Jennie McAlpine's maternity leave, when she leaves the show to have her first baby.

Cilla first appeared in the show in 2003 as Les Battersby's new girlfriend. She has always been a terrible mother to Chesney and Fiz and made plenty of enemies on the street with her outrageous antics - including pretending to have terminal cancer so that the neighbours raised money to send her on holiday to Florida.

Cilla's big entrance will air on the ITV soap on Wednesday October 22, 2014.
