Coronation Street's Rita Sullivan may be retiring from the Kabin. The death of Ramsay Clegg (Andrew Sachs) will leave the Weatherfield newsagent, played by Barbara Knox, wondering if life is too short to get up at 5am to sort out the paper deliveries. "It's a massive change for the face of Coronation Street. Rita has been selling cigarettes, organising papers and gossiping with customers for decades," a soap insider told The Sun. It would be the end of an era on the famous soap cobbles if Rita does decide to step down after 36 years of loyal service. The news comes a day after it was announced that Bill Tarmey (better known as Jack Duckworth) would be scaling down his role. It's not yet known whether Rita's business partner Norris Cole (Malcolm Hebden) will take over the Kabin, but Corrie bosses are rumoured to want to give sexy shop assistant Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan) a more prominent role behind the counter.
