Coronation Street’s Simon Gregson reveals to Soaplife that Steve’s hopes of being a father again are dashed… and that’s not the worst of it!
So, how does Steve feel when Liz tells him Michelle might be pregnant?
“He’s very excited because he’s wanted another kid for ages. He wanted one with Becky, he wanted one with Karen… He got one after a one-night stand with his arch enemy, Tracy, but he’s desperate to have a kid with someone he loves.”
So he’s disappointed when Michelle says she’s not pregnant and doesn’t want a baby?
“He’s deflated. He wonders why she doesn’t want one with him, but he drops it quite quickly when Michelle suggests he has a vasectomy. There’s no way he’s doing that! It would hurt and he also doesn’t like the thought of not ever being able to have kids again.”
Why does Steve confide in study buddy Andrea?
“I think he just wants another woman’s point of view and opinion. Andrea’s become a very good mate. She thinks it’s unfair and tells him Michelle shouldn’t put him in such a position.”
Does she have an ulterior motive?
“I think she might have and Steve realises this when he later finds out that she does fancy him. Right now, though, he’s blissfully unaware and has absolutely no idea. Everyone else can see it, but Steve just thinks she sees him as a friend.”
Then Michelle bans sex until Steve has the op!
“He’s not a happy bunny, but decides to turn the tables on her and says he’s not having sex with her, either. It doesn’t have the same effect on Michelle, though…she couldn’t really care less.”
Will he turn to Andrea?
“I don’t think so. He doesn’t fancy her.”
So why did he make out to Michelle that Andrea was no looker?
“He didn’t want Michelle to get jealous or suspicious. In his mind, he was doing the right thing, but it turns out it was the worst thing he could have done!”
