Corrie stars investigated over 'underage' claims

Two Coronation Street stars are reportedly under investigation by police over claims that they were caught in bed with two underage girls.

According to reports Greater Manchester Police are further probing the allegations, said to involve girls aged between 10 and 12.

The story came to light after detectives apparently interviewed a witness to the incident which is said to have occurred in 2008.

The witness claimed to have seen the two actors in a hotel room bed with the girls at 7am and told police one of the men jumped out of bed and told him "You have not seen anything," before slamming the door.

“We received a complaint relating to an alleged incident around five years ago. Enquiries are ongoing," a spokesman for Greater Manchester police told The Sun.

The allegations are the latest in what has already been a rocky year for Coronation Street.

Actor William Roache, who plays Ken Barlow, is awaiting trial over alleged sexual offences, while actor Chris Fountain, who plays Tommy Duckworth, was sacked from the show last month after his rap-alter ego The Phantom - whose lyrics involved reference to rape and extreme violence - was unmasked online.

Earlier this week actor Michael Le Vell - aka Kevin Webster - was found not guilty of child rape and other sexual offences.

He is set to return to the show later this year, having met with producers to plan his comeback - although show bosses have said he will be 'gradually' brought back into Weatherfield.
