Corrie: Who is Liz McDonald's new man?

Coronation Street's Liz McDonald is soon to get a new love interest. But her new man is NOT played by East Is East star, Jimi Mistry as previously rumoured.

"It's not true but I wish it were!" says Beverley Callard who has recently returned to ITV soap, Corrie as Rovers Return landlady, Liz. "I don't know where that rumour came from. I saw it on Twitter. Jimi has just joined the Corrie cast and is gorgeous but, no he's not for Liz!"

Although Corrie bosses are keeping the identity of Liz's new fella under wraps for the moment, Bev had one request when they cast her love interest.

"They will hate me for saying this, but we have a lot of short men on Corrie!" laughs Bev. "I said, 'Please don't cast anyone too short' Otherwise Liz will be there, towering above them in her high heels!"

Meanwhile, Jimi will make his first appearance in Weatherfield next month as Kal, an ex-squaddie friend of Gary Windass.
